- 0:13country has been able to basically avoid 12 billion US dollars of fossil fuel
- 0:22imports since 2017 and then it is well on its way to save another six billion
- 0:28dollars by the end of this year which is quite remarkable. The country would be
- 0:35able to save anywhere between 100 to 125 billion US dollars over the lifetime of
- 0:42the solar panels that have already been imported to the country.
Nobody in this clip says 'climate'. The case is the import bill: most of Pakistan's fuel imports pass through Hormuz, and the solar rush has avoided about $12 billion of them since 2017. What I want next is the utility's side. When the households that can afford panels buy less from the grid, who pays for the wires?
