What Annotated is

Annotated lets you clip and annotate publicly available media (up to 90 seconds) with source attribution always shown. By using Annotated you agree to use the service lawfully and respect the rights of content owners.

Your account

Accounts are created via Google or X sign-in only. You must be at least 13 years old. You are responsible for activity under your account, and we may suspend accounts that abuse the service or violate these terms.

What you publish

Your annotations are yours. You keep ownership of what you write and record. By publishing, you give us permission to host it and show it on its permalink, in the panel, and in the feeds, for as long as it stays published.

A published annotation is public. It gets its own URL, and anyone with the link can open it without an account or the extension. Deleting it removes it from Annotated, but copies other people already made are outside our reach.

Clips and claims

Clips are provided for commentary, criticism, and fair-use style discussion. They are kept short and always carry their source.

Rights holders may file a claim on any public annotation page, with no account needed. An upheld claim removes the clip, leaves the annotation and its attribution standing, and the page says the clip was removed. We may also remove or restrict content after review.

Using it fairly

Do not use Annotated to break the law, to harass anyone, to publish someone else’s private information, or to clip media you have no right to clip. Do not attempt to disrupt the service or work around its limits.

Availability

Annotated is offered as it is, with no guarantee that it will be available or that it will keep working the way it does today. We may change or discontinue any part of it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the service.

These terms may change. The date above is when they last did, and continuing to use Annotated after a change means you accept the revised terms.
